ViewCategory:Sisters -> Miss Mildred
This room is dedicated to Miss Mildred Howell Carrington the sister that taught Art, History and English at the Sunnyside School for Young Ladies.
Miss Mildred was born on November 27, 1842 as the youngest daughter of Tucker Carrington and Mary Watkins Carrington. She was named after one of her grandmothers. Because she was the youngest of the four sisters that ran the School the pupils confided in Miss Mildred often. With some of the students she stayed in contact until the day she died.
On October 21, 1926 the last sister, Miss Mildred died at the age of 83 years. She is laid to rest at the Johnson-Carrington cemetery here on the property.
